Born in 1983 in Lausanne, Switzerland, Lionel Renaud quickly developed a passion for the drum and started taking lessons at the age of 5.
Member of several companies in the Lausanne area, he participates in many competitions during which he obtains several titles of champion of the State of Vaud and one of vice-champion of the French-speaking region.
Initially a drum sergeant in the army, he began studying wind band and conducting and obtained his higher diploma from the Swiss Music Association at the same time as obtaining his rank of lieutenant.
Between 2005 and 2009 he was in charge of the training of staff and drummer recruits of the military band in Aarau as a contractual officer together with Staff Warrant Officer Philipp Rütsche.
He is a regular jury member at regional and national competitions and is a composer and author of literature in this field. He is also a member of the central committee of the Swiss Drums and Fifers Association and president of the French-speaking union of drums and fifes.
