Florian Hediger was born and raised in Basel, Switzerland, „the capital of rudimental drumming“. The city has a rich culture of rudimental drumming with over 5000 drummers in the traditional „Fasnacht“. Florian started drumming at 7 years old in a group for Fasnacht called „Spale Clique 1927“.
At 16 years old, he joined the drum school of the show drumming group Top Secret Drum Corps. At the age of 18 he became member of the snare line of TSDC. From 2012 to 2018 (with a brief absence in 2017) he travelled with the corps to China, USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, all over Europe and many more. During his career in TSDC, he performed twice in The Royal Ediburgh Military Tattoo and twice in his hometown at the Basel Tattoo. One of the highlights of his career was the 90. birthday celebrations for H.M. The Queen at Windsor Castle in 2016.
Today Florian is an active drummer in the Swiss Army, as well as teaching children and adults in the traditional „Basel-Style“ while still drumming himself in Spale Clique. With his degree in International Business Management and his network within the global rudimental drumming scene, he is an excellent addition to the board of SIRD in the role as treasurer.
