Ed Oosterom (1969) started drumming at the age of 7 years. In 1986 he joined the Netherlands Marines Fife and Drum Corps. The NL Marines F&D Corps still serves in its traditional role as Drummers and Fifers, also serving in the operational units.
Ed’s career is an example of this, serving in both roles around the globe fort he last 35 years. During his career he wrote multiple compositions, played by military as wel as civil drummers. Next to this, he played drums and percussion in the NL Marines Steelband which is formed by members of the F&D Corps.
In civil life, for 18 years he was the percussion instructor for Show and Marching Band “Kunst en Genoegen”, one of the top marchingbands in The Netherlands.
In 2015 he was promoted to Drum Major and Chief of the Fife and Drum Corps.
He concluded his career in the F&D Corps in 2020 and is currently serving as Staff Officer ceremonial and traditions in the Staff Netherlands Military Music.
